I Hate Models: The Enigmatic Force of Industrial Techno
I Hate Models, born Guillaume Labadie, grew up in the south of France, initially immersing himself in genres such as hip-hop, metal, and punk. His transition to electronic music was influenced by remix albums of his favorite bands, leading him to experiment with blending metal and punk elements into electronic productions.
He debuted in 2015 with the track “Persephone,” followed by his first EP, Warehouse Memories, in 2016, which featured the notable track “Daydream.” This release established his reputation for merging melancholic melodies with hard-hitting techno beats. Subsequent EPs, such as Totsuka No Tsurugi (2017) and Spreading Plague (2018), showcased his evolving sound, characterized by industrial textures and emotional depth.
In 2019, he released his debut album, L’Âge des Métamorphoses, on Perc Trax, receiving acclaim for its intricate production and genre-defying approach. Tracks like “Forgiveness” and “Eternal Loneliness” highlight his ability to intertwine introspective themes with relentless rhythms.
Demonstrating his commitment to creative independence, I Hate Models launched his own label, Disco Inferno, in early 2021, with the inaugural EP Disco Inferno 01.
